The Veterans Day Assembly is a very important assembly for students to see how important the people that serve in our military are. It could be Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, etc.. There is always a guest speaker that was in the military in the past that comes into our program and gives their experience from the military and how important it truly was to our officers, military that fight for their own lives and other ones around the world daily.
Mrs. Reyes plans the assembly and organizes each aspect. Mrs. Morelli works with the speakers, Student Council helps with the luncheon, NHS serves as guides, and the band also performs.
Student readers this year were: Katie Byers, Ethan Sokol, Charlotte Estes, Joy Mohr, Jack McDevitt, Miah Tomaino, Abigail Bueno, and Nicolas Rotuna.
Makenzie Truslow and Abigail Hochendoner played Taps.
Peyton Flower designed the artwork for the cover of the program.
Hayden Duraney stated, “It was great listening to a veteran’s personal stories about the military.” She basically says she enjoyed watching the importance of our military through this program and that the people watching should use it as evidence to help them get information about it.
The speaker stated, “Well when you are in the military and experience it you see more than others and that it is an important lesson to the kids to learn from the perspective of those who serve our country.” He basically talks about how he was in the military in the past and that he himself is a veteran and that he experienced lots that he never thought he would in his life and that being in the Army changed his life in ways he didn’t think it could change his life.
The assembly discusses how important veterans are and that it is helpful to the students of Jackson-Milton.
