On May 11, 2026 the 9th grade students had a speaker in to talk about internet safety. The woman who was speaking to the 9th grade was Andrea Bosnjak. Bosnjak is from MCCTC in Canfield. She was in periods 4th, 5th and 6th for Mrs. Morelli’s class. Bosnjak explained how it important it is for kids and teens to stay very safe on the internet. She had a slide show to show the different types of ways to be safe on the internet and she also showed videos of students talking about the risky things people post on the internet and the consequences of those items.
“I think it’s very important that the teachers make sure that we understand how the internet works” stated Gwen Gamble.
Bosnjak also discussed how when something inappropriate is on the internet, it is always out there to find.
“Internet safety is so important and I’m glad people are coming in to talk to it about us.” stated Sophia Derrow.
Bosnjak’s purpose is to make all students aware of privacy measures to take and how to protect yourself when being on the internet so a person does not unknowingly share personal information. You never want to share any personal information on the internet.
“I think it’s very important to learn about safety when dealing with the internet.” stated Ms. Downs. “You should at all times protect all aspects of your identity (personal information, finances, and overall mental well-being). It teaches you how to safeguard yourself from cyberbullying, receiving misinformation and inappropriate content.”
This was a great lesson and a wealth of important information young students need to be aware of.
