On February 26, 2026, 8 juniors and seniors attended YSU’s annual MathFest along with Mrs. Valinger at Beeghly Hall on the YSU Campus. The Juniors were Brandy Anton, Nora Schwarten, Walker Wolf, David Osborne and Amani Yasin. The seniors were Katie Byers, Abby Bueno and Joy Mohr. The students participated in a mixed team competition with students from neighboring districts. . Both David’s and Nora’s teams tied for third place, earning them both a cash prize.
Students also attended math-focused sessions hosted by YSU staff and students. Jackson-Milton has gone to MathFest 4 years in a row and it has all been a very successful time and very fun. Each year, the YSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics sponsors the annual YSU MathFest. The purpose of this one day event is to celebrate the beauty and power of mathematics with t350 high school students from northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. At YSU MathFest, students participate in interesting workshops and competitions, such as the Mixed Team Competition, and the Challenge of Champions Test. They were only there for one day. They were there from 8:30 till 2:00 in the afternoon. They also had lunch there.
