For Mr. Weidenthal’s trade class he had a guest speaker come in. Megan Ellsworth is a Career Connections Outreach Specialist through the Ohio Carpenters’ Apprenticeship Program. She came on January 6th, 2026. Ellsworth came in to speak with the students about Career opportunities within the Union Carpentry program. She talked about wages, benefits, zero cost training and the specific specialized career paths within the Carpenters Union. We bring in multiple speakers throughout the school year specializing in all of the different trades.
Weidenthal stated, “The main objective is to expose students to the different options they have post graduation and possible career paths that best fit their individual interests and skill sets.” He also stated, “Many students are unaware of these opportunities, so bringing in speakers and traveling to the trades conventions as we do allows for our students to become more aware of ALL their options to find success post graduation.”
The guest speaker would usually talk about what opportunities the students could have or even their own personal experiences. She talked about different career paths they can go into. This helps students have an idea of what they might want to do in the future with all this information. She also helps the students know what to expect when going into certain jobs. This class helps students prepare for life after school and it helps them prepare for different careers. This class makes them be a little more hands-on with their learning so they are ready for the real world.
