SADD is a club for students that encourages people to make positive choices. SADD stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions. Students that have joined have promised to keep their life safe by saying no to any bad decisions. SADD does activities and events such as community trick or treat, Red Ribbon Week, Prom Promise Week, and wears certain colors for World Down Syndrome Day, Be Kind Day, and Autism Day. SADD promotes responsibility, leadership and to influence people to make the right decisions. SADD doesn’t only focus on bad decisions, they focus on spreading good and encourage students to look out for one another. Mrs. Reyes and Mrs. Morelli, who run the club say they wanted to make a difference with kids and raise awareness.
Mrs. Reyes said she likes to see them be successful and to understand the feeling of being free and confident. Mrs. Reyes would like to say “Doing negative things will only hurt you in the long run such as ruining friendships, family relationships, your future and could lead to being arrested.” She also has some words that she would like to share, “Do not succumb to peer pressure. What may sound like a good idea at the beginning could not be in the end.” SADD is here to help you do the right thing, to not have a bad mindset, not drinking or smoking, and not making fun of people. SADD is a big part of our school that wants to help.
Mrs. Morelli enjoys working with the students and showing them that their positive choices can be fun and make others feel good about themselves. She said she keeps a sign in her room that says, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind!” She loves this motto and believes kindness can make a huge difference in someone’s day.
Students have recently traveled to the elementary school to sing Christmas carols with the preschool students. Walker WOlf sressed as Santa and enjoyed the experience. A fun time was had by all SADD members who got to attend!
