Homecoming court takes place on the football field. There is a homecoming parade and the girls go on the golf cart and ride through it. They go on the opposite side of the football field and walk down with their parents, both girls and boys. It goes on Friday night right before the football game on homecoming weekend.
Mrs. Schneeman, who takes care of it all, says that “9th, 10th, and 11th grade students vote for one male and one female to be on homecoming court. The individuals who get the most votes are the ones on court. The seniors vote for 5 females and 5 males to be on court. Out of the 5 seniors the rest of the seniors and juniors will vote who they want to be queen and king.”
Advice she would give to the students who feel overlooked by the tradition is, “I would say to try and step out of your comfort zone and ask people to vote for you next year.”
When Abigail Bueno got homecoming queen she felt beyond grateful and honored to be crowned. She said, “It will be something I won’t ever forget and it meant the world to me that so many people were by my side.”
“Everyone was so emotional. My family was crying, my friends were cheering, and I couldn’t stop smiling. It really showed how many people were rooting for me throughout this whole experience.”-Abigail Bueno
