On Friday, August 1st, the 2025 soccer season started. The team had a total of 5 seniors, Brock Piatt, Joseph Modarelli, Ciera Pyle, Dominic Verquer, and Cainan Ganni. All 5 of the seniors this year were also team captains. The Bluejays had a good and hard fought season. Thanks to the coach Ned Seder, they ended the season with a record of 4-11-2. It’s not only the coaches that make the season great, it’s the players and the sport itself that brings so much energy. It is a way to make great friends and build more confidence in yourself.
This season’s biggest competitor was Lordstown High School. As for next year, the team will get started as early as June 2026, to work toward a better record. The captains did an awesome job at keeping the team motivated throughout the season and calm during the games. With their hard leadership and teaching, the young athletes are excited to get started next year. As far as tournaments went, the Bluejays soccer team headed to Columbia Station for sectional semifinals, on Monday, 10-13-25. Fighting a hard loss, with a final score of 4-1.
Not only does their leadership and hard work help the team, but so does the dedication from all athletes. The coaches pushed the team to work hard and play together, helping everyone grow not just as athletes but as friends and teammates. Either they are celebrating a win, or pushing through a tough loss throughout the season, they are still teammates and will always share this bond with each other.
“To get the team prepared as early as June 2026 in order to get a better record.”- Coach Ned
“As a captain on the team, talking with the players before, after and during games was very important. Keeping them both motivated and calm in the game. Leading by example was also important to our players.” -Brock Piatt
“Our most challenging moment of the season was after our loss mid-season to Newton Falls. It was definitely a tough game and it left us a little bit unmotivated and angry. During this time we learned to come together as a team and held other rough moments down the line.”-Brock Piatt
