The Jackson-Milton competition cheer team had a successful season. The competition squad includes seniors, Abby Bueno, Arianna Lehman, and Peyton Ford. Juniors, Addison Ferenczy, Brooke Allen, Gabriella Price, and Skyler Zerucha. Freshman Ashlyn McCabe, Hayden Duraney, Lanie Sokol, Olivia Price, and Sophia Derrow. This team was coached by Chloe Derrow and Holly Sokol. The coaches were determined to help this team to perform at their best abilities. The competition team has two different teams and routines. Traditional black and gameday.
Both teams went to four different competitions to prepare them for regionals and states. The first competition was at Warren G. Harding where they got first place in traditional and second place in gameday. Their next competition was at Edison and they got fifth place in traditional and sixth place in gameday. It didn’t go as they hoped but that just made them want to work harder for their next comp. The teams third comp was at Lisbon high school and they got third place in traditional and first place in gameday. The next competition they went to was at Jackson high school for regionals. They needed above a certain score to make it to states. Both of our competition teams made it to state. After regionals both teams had another competition at Mount Union. Gameday got fourth place and tradition got first place. Coaches say that at the next practice before states they took every critique the judges scored them on to be ready for states.
Their last competition was at Big Walnut High School for State. The first day of the competition the girls walked the halls doing a send off to states. After lots of preparation, practices, and hard work the traditional team placed third out of nine teams non build non tumble. The next day the gameday routine placed first out of four teams and won State Champions in Non-build non-tumble.
