The Jackson-Milton volleyball team had a great season this year. With the JV team having a record of 16-4 and the varsity team having a record of 8-10. This year’s teams were coached by Sue Prozy, Linda Craig, Karly Gibbs, and Pat Keney and the team captains were Peyton Ford and Emma Johns. This year the Varsity team faced many tough opponents but they pushed through the competitive season with unforgettable moments.
“My favorite memory is when we pushed through 5 sets the first game of the season to beat our rivals.” -Team Captain, Emma Johns
This year’s team roster is Joy Mohr, Peyton Ford, Tiffany Tingler, Charlie Saunders, Brena McBeth, Emma Johns, Olivia Newhard, Olivia Stewart, Brooke Gibbs, Jerrica Huffman, Emma Hunt, Lanie Sokol, Prentiss Fishtorn, Emma McDevitt, and Sarah Murphy.
The team beat their rival Western Reserve with an ending score of 3-2. The hardest teams that they had to face this year were McDonald and Campbell Memorial. They fought hard against these teams and put up a good fight. But despite their hard work they came up short against these teams and sadly lost.
“I think McDonald and Campbell were the most challenging teams this year.” -Coach Sue Prozy
These girls had positive attitudes throughout the whole season and through all the ups and downs of the season. They each helped each other get through tough matches by cheering on their teammates and always picking each other up after a bad play.
“I motivate myself and teammates by always trying to pick them up and cheer them on. I try to never let them get in their head by keeping the energy high.” -Team Captain, Emma Johns
This team has learned so much during this year’s season and want to continue to learn more things and also build off the things they have already learned. Next year the coaches are hoping to continue to build an even stronger culture and continue to strengthen the team’s mental, physical, and emotional strengths.
The goal is “To continue to build on team bonding and working together as a team to achieve more success as a team. Developing on the plays they learned and running them with more confidence so they use them more often during set play.” -Coach Linda Craig.
