2016 Track season is just around the bend…

Cheyenne Morrow, Staff Writer

The 2016 Track and Field season is quickly approaching this year! The coaching staff consists of Mr. Assion, Mr. Mohr and Mr. Brode. This year the coaches expect to have one of the most promising track teams in Jackson-Milton history. The distance members have already had the opportunity to practice with Coach Mohr after school through the week. This optional conditioning began on February 1st . Sprinters, jumpers, and throwers begin conditioning on February 29th. The first day of mandatory practice for the season is March 7th. This year the track team has ten guaranteed track meets, such as the Western Reserve relay meet, the I.T.C.L., and multiple home track meets.

Mr. Mohr is eager for this season, especially since the distance team went far last year. Mr. Mohr states, “I am excited for a new distance team this year. In the short preparation time we had last year we had a well representation at districts and regionals and I hope we can continue that success this year. The distance members who are not currently in a sport have already begun their training and I hope the hard work continues throughout the season.”

The head girls coach, Mr. Assion also has faith in the track team this year. He hopes that more sprinters come out this year and help the team succeed in every meet. Mr. Assion states, “I think we are going to be very competitive in every meet. Preseason conditioning started at the end of February, but I hope to capitalize on the basketball team’s success.”

The 2016 track season looks promising as it is quickly approaching. The coaches hope that new members come out to conditioning at the end of February to see what the season has to offer. They also hope to succeed as a whole and make this season unforgettable!
