Congratulations to the Champion:
Travis McCallister
And the runner-up:
Kenzie Kauffman
Kids that are in 6-8th grade can participate in the spelling bee. The winner this year was Travis McAllister and the runner up was Kenzie Kauffman. All the middle schooler ELA teachers came together and hosted the spelling bee. You could be in the next spelling bee if you think you are a good speller or you could even just try and see how far you can make it. Schools do the spelling bee because you could improve study skills, and build confidence. When you do the spelling bee you could ask for a definition, to repeat the word, or put the word in a sentence.
Mrs. White said, “This year’s spelling bee was very similar to previous years and we were happy to see that participants took this opportunity seriously.”
The advice she would give to future contestants: “Some advice I would give future spelling bee participants would be to have confidence, speak clearly, and don’t be afraid to ask for clarification.”
Travis said he is proud of himself that he made it that far and he’s surprised that he even won. His classmates said that he is an excellent speller.
Kenzie stated, “It was a great opportunity to even be in the spelling bee.” She felt happy that she made it that far, she was a little disappointed that she missed a word, but did a great job!
