On May 20th 2018 the Blue Jay 5K will be hosted at the Jackson – Milton Elementary school. Since 2012, art teacher Kaitlyn Amandalora has been in charge of the 5K. This year  Jackson – Milton PTA member Abbey Fishtorn will organize the event. Fishtorn said, “The community enjoyed it and I have kids participating in it.”

At this event there will be Face painting, crafts, balloon animals, a warped wall that will be one dollar per try and a Kids Fun Run at 9:30 am and a small sample obstacle course for the younger kids.

The Official 5K Obstacle will begin at  10:00 am. There will be lots of family activities from 9am to 2pm. It is a rain or shine event so be sure to dress accordingly. There will also be concession stands and local vendors like Kona Ice. Also possibly coming will be the Marines and Fire Department. A DJ and professional photographer will be there. It is free to attend but there is a fee to run in the 5K. The money will help benefit the elementary playground and playground equipment. Fishtorn would also like to add, “Even if your not racing, come out because it’s a lot of fun.”
