Curbstone Coaches Association Honors for Scarl and Mercer

Courtney Mercer

Throughout the football season the Jackson-Milton football team has accomplished many battles.  The football team has faced many injuries throughout the season but still managed to play as a team.

On January 28th, two stand out Jackson-Milton football players were recognized at the Curbstone Coaches Association annual Fall Honors banquet.  Along with 150 other Mahoning valley football players. Nick Scarl received an invitation to this banquet for earning First Team All League Honors for the second year in a row.  Austin Mercer received an invitation to this banquet for earning First Team All-Northeast Inland district. Receiving these awards was a huge accomplishment for both senior graduates.

At the showcase there were many scholarships represented to the athletes. Nick Scarl says, “It was honor to receive an invitation to a showcase like this because it really helps get your name out there.”

Both Mercer and Scarl were awarded a plaque and a certificate. There were 14 finalists for the scholarship that was represented but a student from Western Reserve ended up winning the scholarship. This was a huge accomplishment for both Mercer and Scarl.
