JMHS 2017 Track Season

J-M has had “different” weather for track meets this year.  With wind chills is the 20s to highs in the 70s.  No matter the weather, our athletes have run, thrown, and jumped far in all of their meets.  

On 3/28/2017 the track teams hosted Lisbon and Leetonia.  Taking first for the boys were; Michael Zayas in the 800 Meters, Taylor Kleinknecht in the long jump, and Ryan Staton is the 110 M Hurdles.  Also the 4X100 and the 4X200 teams both took 1st place.  On the girls side the relay teams swept the 4X100, 4X200, 4X400 and the 4X800.  Michaelina Terranova won the 100 M Hurdles, Hayley Lengyel won the 100 and 200 M dashes, Emily Williams won the long jump, Tiffany Barlett won the High Jump and Chloe Clear won the 400M and the 800 M races.  The girls team won this meet and the boys finished second.

On 4/4/2017 the Blue Jay track teams went to Springfield to face them and Crestview.  On the boys side Ryan Staton won the 110 M Hurdles and the 300 M Hurdles and Travis Dornbush won the 800 M run.  On the girls side the 4X400 and 4X800 teams both took first place.  Michaelina Terranova won the 100M and the 300 M hurdle races along with Ashley Cameron winning the 3200 M run

On 4/8/2017 the track teams attended the NEO Lew Speece Invitational at Western Reserve High School.  The girls team finished tied for 9th place against 18 competing schools.  On the girls side; Haley Lengyel finished in 8th place in the 100 M Dash, Michaelina Terranova won the 300 M Hurdles and finished 2nd in the 100 M Hurdles and Emily Williams finshed 4th in the long jump.  The relay team of Haley Lengyel, Bailey Estes, Emily Williams, and Michaelina Terranova finished in second place in the 4X100 race.  On the boys side Ryan Staton finished 6th in the 110 M Hurdles and 7th in the 300 M Hurdles, Anthony Morelli also finshed 6th in the long jump.

On Tuesday the 11th the teams competed against Mineral Ridge and South Range two of the area’s premier teams in track.  The Boy’s team was highlighted by Taylor Kleinknecht who took first in the long jump and Ryan Staton took first place in the high jump.  The girls were lead by Michaelina Terranova who won first place in the 100 M and the 300 M Hurdles. Hayley Lengyel also won the 100 M Dash as well.

On Tuesday the 18th the teams hosted McDonald and Western Reserve in a meet that was highly attended by all communities.  Taylor Kleinknecht won the long jump again at this meet.  The girls took second place in this meet. Michaelina Terranova won the long jump, 100 M hurdles and the 300 M Hurdles.  The 4×100 team also took first place as well.

On Saturday the 22nd our teams took place in the Mahoning County Meet. Michaelina Terranova took 1st place in the the 100M and 300 M Hurdles.   Chloe Clear took 7th place in the 200 M Dash.  Emily Williams took 6th in the 800 M run.  Ashley Cameron took 5th in the 1600 M run and Heather Kirk took 8th in this event as well.  Ashley also took 6th in the 3200 M run and Heather Kirk took 6th.  The 4X100 M team took 3rd place and the 4×200 M team took 6th.  The 4X800 M team took 3rd place and Emily Williams and Michalina Terranova took 3rd and 4thplace in the long jump respectively. Lastly, Emily Williams took 4th place in the discus event as well.  Overall the girls finished in 4th place in the small school division of the county.  The boys team took 7th place in the small school division.  Jeremy Seka took 6th place in the 1600 M run and 4th in the 3200 M run.  The 4×100 team  took 3rd place, the 4X200 M took 6th place, the 4X 400 team took 3rd place in the and the 4X800 team took 4th place. Taylor Kleinknecht took 3rd place in the long jump to round up a good day for the team.

On April 25th our varsity track teams went to Lowellville to run against them and Wellsville.  Our Boys took second place.  For the boys Jeremy Seka won the 1600M and the 3200 M runs.  Taylor Kleinkecht won the long jump and the boys also won the 4X400M relay.  The girls took first place in this meet winning the 4X100M, 400M, and 800M relays.  Michaelina Terranova won the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.  Haley Lengyel won the 100M and the 200M.  Taylor Hayes won the 400M and the discus competition along with Emily Williams winning the long jump and Tiffany Barlett won the high jump.

On April 27th our teams went to the Western Reserve Relays and the girls team finished 4th out of 11 teams. The team of Courtney Mercer, Gracie Assion, Bailey Estes, and Michaelina Terranova took 2nd  in the 4X100 Shuttle Hurdle Relay. The team of Haley Lengyel, Bailey Estes, Emiliy Williams, and Michaelina Terranova took 2nd in the 4X100M Relay and also the 800 Sprint Medley. In the 4X100 Ironwoman relay the team of Courtney Mercer, Gracie Assion, Tiffany Barlett and Payton Delgado took first.  In the long jump, Michaelina Terranova took 3rd place.  The boy’s team took 8th place out of 10 teams and the team of Ryan Staton, Dyllen Gibbs, Michael Liberato and Taylor Kleinknecht took 3rd place in the 800M Medley Relay.  The team of Duncan Kegley, Noah Davis, Diven Ellert and Lucas Kozma took 3rd in the Ironman relay.  Ryan Staton also took 3rd in the high jump as well.

On May 2nd the track teams welcomed Mogadore and Struthers to JM for a track meet.  The girls won the meet with Tiffany Barlett winning the HJ and Emily Williams winning with LJ and the 200M.  Michaelina Terranova won the 100 hurldes and Ashley Cameron won the 1600M and the 3200M runs.  The girls teams also won the 4X100M and the 4X800 M relays.  The boys team was lead by Taylor Kleinknecht who won the long jump and the boys won the 4X800M relays.  Anthony Morelli placed 2nd in the long jump and Noah Davis placed 3rd in the long jump.
