What to do, to avoid the FLU!

Lyndsey Wyant, Staff Writer

As we are starting to peek into cold and flu season, being completely aware of potential sickness during this weather is important for those of us who are prone to getting ill.

During this time, we should all be focused on keeping well. Meaning that we should be bundled up in appropriate clothing and avoiding close contact with people; and when you’re sick, be sure to distance yourself from others, for the sake of their physical health as well. It’s smart to keep yourself away from other people at all times!

But, if you do find yourself being socially active while sick, it’s important to cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, to avoid spreading any bacteria or germs to your peers.

So when you do get a cold, it is essential to be sure you take care of it as soon as possible, by keeping yourself hydrated, staying home, taking the appropriate cold and flu medicines, etc.

Being sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water for about 60 seconds before (and after) performing hands-on tasks is another important detail to not falling victim to the cold and flu season. It’s additionally important to try and avoid touching open orifices like your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches their eyes, nose, or mouth.

Stay safe and healthy!
