Countdown to graduation

Eric Ostrowski, Staff Writer

Senior year is halfway over and I think I can speak for all of us seniors when I say we are all very excited about it. This year has gone by so fast, just like high school has. Every senior is now preparing for graduation and life after graduation, whether it be college or something else.

There are only 5 months left until one of the most important days in our lives. The rest of the school year will be filled with scholarships, college decisions, and planning for graduation. Some of this is being in done in our Senior Mentorship class. The class is taught by Mr. Hogue and he has us plan out our future after high school. He has students that are going to college fill out scholarships, the FAFSA, and financial plans for college. He has students that aren’t going to college fill out job applications and their resume. It is a great class that helps prepare seniors for life after graduation.

Many of us seniors have prepared for graduation itself by ordering the cap and gown for the ceremony. Also, graduation parties have been arranged for most of the seniors. There is a mix of people who are booking a hall for the party and some are having their party at their house.

When asked about graduating, Travis Tikkanen said, “It is very bittersweet. We will miss all of our high school memories and all of the fun we had, but we get to move on with our lives.”

Graduating is very bittersweet because it pretty much means our childhoods are over, but it is exciting to start something new.

Jeffrey Luther said he feels great about graduating and is perfectly okay with it.

Mikey Spencer said, “I’m very excited to start a new life outside of school.”

Everyone has a different viewpoint, but the general consensus is that it is exciting. The end of this year is somewhat stressful because of all the decisions we have to make. The tough decisions will be worth it in the end.
