Introduction to JM Baseball 2016

Tyler Phillips, Staff Writer

Jackson-Milton Baseball, coached by Kevin Hogue and Adam Myers, is on a roll with successful seasons. Coaches Hogue and Myers have been holding small training sessions since last summer with 6 players who were not in any winter sports.

Now that winter sports are over, more students are able to come to practice. The baseball team consists of 2 seniors, 7 juniors, 4 sophomores, 5 freshman therefore, 18 players for the 2016 season. The coaches are pleased with the amount of underclassmen that are joining this year. With the 9 underclassmen, Coach Hogue explains how that is a high number for the baseball team.

The Bluejays made it to the District finals last year and Coach Hogue says that he wants to “make it to the same spot this year, then one at a time after that.”  The whole team is excited and determined to make it further this year and they are hoping for the same amount of fans they had last year. Off the field support means a lot to not only the baseball team but all sports, Hogue says “Come out and support.”

Justin Rentz, a 4-year letter winner and a respected senior states, “We want to make it to District Finals and win it because this year in Jackson-Milton, both boy and girl sports are doing very well at making history and we want to add on to Jackson-Milton’s success.”

The first game for the Jays is March 30th and they are expecting a lot of people to come out and watch. Like Coach Hogue said, “Go Jays.”
