The Jackson-Milton Veterans Day assembly was held on November 11, 2024. Veterans day is a day to remember and honor the veterans who served our country. This year multiple students spoke and honored the veterans with the following readings: “Veterans Day” read by Olivia Newhard, “America’s Promise” read by Addison Ferenczy, “Fields of Honor” read by Katie Byers, “Armed Services Medley” read by Walker Wolf, “Thank you Veterans” read by Caty Carnes, and “In Flanders Fields” read by Joy Mohr. Two talented band members played the moment of silence/taps, Makenzie Truslow and Abigail Hochendoner.
Mrs. Reyes says, “Veterans Day is very important because these men and women serve our country and put their lives in harm’s way to make sure we are free” also she stated, “Every day we should be thanking veterans not just on Veterans Day.”
Mrs. Reyes plans the event and chooses the videos every year but also tries to make them different from years past. The Jackson-Milton Veterans Day program is the best program around. Organization, thought, and effort are all important to the program which makes it one of the best programs around. This assembly is held to celebrate the men and women who put their lives out in danger for all Americans.
Mrs. Morelli is in charge of the student readers, Mrs. Schneeman is in charge of the Student Council lunch, Mr. Penfound is in charge of the JM band, and Michaela Salas was in charge of this year’s cover pamphlet. She designed a very bright and colorful piece of art to represent the veterans who served for the country. She had gotten inspiration from Mr. Jackson. The cover page had soldiers holding up the U.S flag with bright colors in the sky.
Salas stated, “Mr. Jackson gave me the idea and inspiration of this artwork, he inspired me to make the veterans feel special.”
Veterans are true heroes serving our country to make Americans feel safe.
“At first playing taps was scary, but honoring those who served for our country was worth it,” stated Makenzie Truslow.
Thank you to all of the staff and students who took the time to talk and focus on the people who served for our freedom.
