This Veterans day on November 11th 2023, we honored our veterans by holding an assembly in their honor of serving our country. We had soldiers speak about their experience serving, and tell their stories they cherish. We had class speakers read out poems, and summaries about veterans day. First we started out with our principle, Dave Vega greeting everyone, then American Legion Post 737 with “Presentation of Colors”, Leo Lipp with “The Pledge of Allegiance”, the Jackson Milton Band with “Star Spangled Banner”, Maleah Jacobs with “Veterans Fought for Us”, Abby Bueno with “Veterans Day Limerick”, then again with the Jackson-Milton Band “Softly Speaks the Night” By Carol Brittin Chambers, our guest speaker SSGT Jenny Lynn Smith, who shared her stories while being a soldier. We also had a slide show presentation of all of our family and friends who have served for our country. After we had more of our students share what veterans day meant to them. We had Malina Funes-Kendrick “Why Do They Fight”, our Jackson-Milton Band and Cayden Mitchell. “Armed Services Medley”, Brody Pugh “We Honor You Today”, Ethan Sokol “In Flanders Field”, Abigail Hockendoner “Moment of Silence/Taps”
Then at the end of the ceremony the American Legion post 737 performs the Retirement of the Colors. This veterans day our Jackson-Milton staff and students would like to thank our soldiers for serving our country and giving us our freedom!
