The Jackson- Milton boys varsity basketball team worked hard this season.  The boys varsity coaches were: head coach, Steve Procopio and assistant coaches, Sam Procopio, JR Shripley, and Guliano Romeo. The Jackson-Milton team is in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference (MVAC) along with McDonald, Western Reserve, Springfield, Sebring, Lowellville, Waterloo, and Mineral Ridge.

Senior point guard, Guy Costello says, “I believe we have many winnable games left on the schedule as long as we keep working hard. If the team keeps working together in practice and in games then we will definitely add some more wins to our record.” Guy Costello is the captain and team leader, is working hard to inspire the underclassmen to do the same.

Over Christmas break, the JV and Varsity boys basketball teams hosted a Holiday Tournament and invited the Mogadore, Maplewood, and Columbiana. The tournament was on Thursday, December 28 and Friday, December 29. It started at 3 pm with the first JV game and ended with the last Varsity game beginning at 7:30 pm. On Thursday the boys played Maplewood and lost 65-31. On Friday, the boys battled against Columbiana and lost 50-32.

Nineteen games into the 2017-18 boys basketball season and the fighting Blue Jays are 1-18. Their sole win was against Heartland Christian who they are also playing tonight; February 13th. The top scorers this tough season have been Guy Costello, Joey Williams, Sebastian Lay and Mason Robinson.

“Our entire team has pushed each other throughout the season,” Sophomore Joey Williams  states.

Their next few games are Crestview away and Senior night against Southeast here at home. The Blue Jays boys basketball team was seeded 12th for playoffs. For the first playoff game they will play Springfield away at Springfield on February 27th. Our boys team has fought long and hard against many tough opponents.

“Our team has worked hard each and every practice.” Senior Guy Costello says.
