Super Bowl 50

This year is the 50 year anniversary of the NFL Super Bowl. The first Super Bowl took place in 1966. That game was the Chiefs vs. Packers and the Packers came out victorious. Since Super Bowl I, many legends have played for the prestigious title of Super Bowl Champions.  Many of the greatest players in NFL history have played in the Super Bowl. Stars such as Bart Starr, Joe Montana, and Steve Smith have all won the MVP of the Super Bowl.

This year’s Super Bowl consisted of the Denver Broncos vs. the Carolina Panthers. Star quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Cam Newton went toe to toe for the battle of the Lombardi Trophy. The game did not disappoint. On the opening drive of the game, the Broncos took the ball and drove all the way down the field and kicked a field goal. Later in the first half, the Panthers got sacked and the Broncos recovered the fumble and scored a touchdown.  The first half was an all out battle; the defenses were playing very tough. The end of the first half score was 13-7 in favor of the Broncos.

The halftime show was great. It consisted of Coldplay with special guest appearances by Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

As for the football, the story was pretty much the same. The Broncos defense was too much for Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. Linebacker Von Miller had a great game and was named Super Bowl 50 MVP. Most people believe that this was Peyton Manning’s last ever game in the NFL. This would be a great way for him to go out. Following in his footsteps, Cam Newton is going to be a bright star in the NFL.
