Friday October 16th was the final home game for the 2015 football season. Since it was the last home game it was also senior night for all senior fall athletes. All fall athletes walked across the field before the game began with their parents or guardians. Since October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” the cheerleaders were involved in many activities to raise awareness. The cheerleaders raised awareness by wearing pink clothing, pink bows, and using pink pompoms. There were also donation jars set up around the stadium so people in the community could donate money toward breast cancer awareness.

Along with the donation jars, the cheerleaders have set up jars for the penny drive throughout the middle and high school first period classes. The penny drive was also for breast cancer awareness. For the penny drive, students and staff were able to make monetary donations. Each homeroom class had a different jar. All money was counted on Wednesday, October 21st and the classroom with the biggest amount of money won a pizza party.

The cheerleaders brought any and all donations that they received over the weeks to Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic on Sunday, October 25th. Also at the game on Friday, October 16th the Little Blue Jay cheerleaders cheered with the high school girls for one quarter. They also participated in raising awareness by wearing pink. The Little Blue Jay cheerleaders learned high school cheers prior to the game and cheered along with the high school cheerleaders. The cheerleaders appreciate the support and involvement throughout the community and hope that it continues in future years!
