On December 11th, 2024 the Jackson-Milton student council assisted the Red Cross blood donation organization in a community blood drive. Under the leadership of Mrs. Schneeman student council members and representatives took shifts checking in donors and tending to them as they gave blood. They set up and took down tables and many of the students gave blood themselves. The whole process was extremely organized and overall beneficial to the community.
The drive lasted from 9am – 1pm and had decent community involvement. The student council members who represent ninth through twelfth grade helped to offer snacks and support to those who donated and cleaned the auxiliary gymnasium when the drive ended. It was a great opportunity for students to give back to those in need and learn more about the donation process.
“This was the lowest turnout because the sophomores aren’t 16 yet, we expect a better turn out as the year progresses” said Mrs. Schneeman.
“Thank you to all the students and staff who helped out and donated blood,” said Mrs. Schneeman
“It was fun being able to help the community by giving blood.” stated Madason Morgan
“We were thankful people showed up, and that we could help out in such an important process,” said Lane Taylor.
The next blood drive will take place on February 26th and the Student Council hopes to see many new faces at the event to donate!
