The Jackson-Milton High School golf team Varsity and Junior varsity both had a very good season. The Varsity coach is Mr. Crish, the varsity team went 15-2 this whole season and was much improvement for the years past.
The season started August 31st and the practices were held at Old Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton. After a challenging match-up against McDonald they came out victorious with a score of 165-172. The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays got their first conference championship since 2005. They also had a perfect 13-0 record in their conference for this season.
The Junior varsity coach Mr. Jackson stated, “We are going to try to build onto our JV team, and hopefully give some of the JV, Varsity playing time.” The JV record for this year was 2-11 these kids put their heart into this sport and hope for the best next year.
During this season the toughest match for Varsity was the District Tournament, held at Tannenhauf Golf Course.
This year’s players are: Seniors; Ryan Romigh, Hunter Schertzer, and Dylan Hovanec. Juniors: Colton Elliot, and Jackson Horner. Sophomores: Blake Hochendoner, Brady Anton, Walker Wolf, Caleb Combs, Abigail Hochendoner, Jace Click, and William Fetkovich. The one and only Freshman: Jacob Fox.
Abby Hochendoner stated, “The sport is definitely different from others, what challenged me the most was my mental game.”
Jace Click also commented, “This sport is fun, physically not too demanding.”
The teams Varsity played this year were Norton, Rootstown, Western Reserve, Springfield, Sebring, Mineral Ridge, and Waterloo. The teams the Junior Varsity played were Rootstown, Howland, Hubbard, West Branch, Austintown, Cardinal Mooney, and Louisville.
