This summer the Jackson-Milton cheerleaders participated in a three day long summer camp where they started the basics of stunting that they have been using for games and performances. While attending summer camp, Cheertime Athletics selected four girls on the cheer team to perform a halftime show at the Cavs game, YSU game, and a cheer competition for an exposition. These girls are Abby Bueno, Caty Carnes, Peyton Ford, and Gabriella Price.
They also performed at the Canfield Fair exposition with other local schools.
Sophomore Skylar Gaynor-Zerucha quotes, “”The season has been really good so far and I’m looking forward to going to state and I’m excited to see how the season turns out.”
The cheerleaders are hosting pep rallies, selling raffle baskets, and investing in both new competition uniforms and practice gear. The JMHS cheerleaders are also practicing their game day routine for upcoming competitions throughout the winter. This year, our new cheer team is going through a variety of carefully selected coaching staff! They have instilled hard work, dedication, stunting, technique, and more.
Senior Caty Carnes mentions, “We really embraced teamwork this year and created a great team environment.”
This season’s cheer captains are Abigail Bueno and Caitlyn Carnes. Furthermore, the competition team competed at Girard High School and competed against four Division 1 and Division 2 schools in the area. The team was able to take first place in the Gameday division, as well as Grand Champions of the competition.
Sophomore Gabriella Price exclaims, “I’m so proud of how far we came throughout the season. Keep it up girls!”
The team’s goals are to qualify for regionals and prepare for the state competition in Columbus this spring.
Stay tuned for updates on their continuing Competition Season!
