The Jackson-Milton volleyball team, coached by Stephen Mohr and Linda Craig, had a record of 8-16 this season. The Lady Jays made it to sectional finals this year for tournaments, with their first game being against Badger and their sectional final game being against Southern Local.
Varsity head coach, Stephen Mohr, stated, “With a young team in terms of varsity experience due to graduation class last year, we finished in fourth place in the highly competitive scarlet tier of the MVAC. With the experience gained this year, we look to be in contention for the MVAC title next year.”
There were many accomplishments this season. One was the libero, junior Grace Johns, reaching 1,000 digs this year. She also led the team with the most number of digs, which was 423, and 610 receptions.
Grace Johns said, “Be the girl that decides to go for it.”
Emma Johns led the Lady Jays this year with 238 assists, along with 238 serves aces. Peyton Ford led the volleyball team with the most blocks, which was 47. The person who led the team with the most kills was Alena Len. The Jackson-Milton junior varsity had a record this year of 6-14.
Junior varsity coach, Linda Craig, said, “My personal goal for the JV athletes was to build their teamwork and confidence as a whole team. Once they jumped over the hurdle of working as a team, their confidence started to develop. Once those two equations came together, their wins started to add up towards the end of the season and that was fantastic to watch develop throughout the season.”
Both Jackson-Milton volleyball teams had a good season of finally working together.
Tiffany Tingler said, “The JV and varsity team had a good season this year, and next year I feel will be a lot better for the Lady Jays.”
Congratulations on a great season, Lady Jays!
