Jackson Milton hosted Western Reserve on Friday evening in a MVAC game. This game was also the second meeting of the two teams, which mean the Presidents Trophy was on the line. The Jays captured the trophy last year and didn’t plan on giving it back.

In the first quarter each team traded baskets. At the end of the quarter the devils led the Jays, 11-10. In the second quarter emotions were high, just like in any rivalry game. The Devils extended their lead to 18-10. After the Jays got composed they were able to chip away at the lead thanks to a couple of steals and easy layups. The Jays found themselves trailing 22-18 going into the half. The second half belonged to the Jays as they came out on a mission. Going into the 4th it was a tie ball game, 34-34. The Jays knew that they had to come out and find a way to win, and they did just that. Both teams traded baskets back and forth, but thanks to some clutch free throws down the stretch the Jays were able to win the game, 46-42 and keep the trophy where it belongs.

The Jays had a balanced scoring effort. The Jays were led by Mason Robison with 10, followed by Cole Grope with 9. AJ Bouch and Franky Prozy both chipped in 8 points of their own.

With the win the Jays improve to 10-9 on the season and 7-6 in the conference. The Jays will host Columbiana on Tuesday 2/9.
