2020-21 Wrestling Team

At Fitch High School for the annual Joshua Hephner Memorial Wrestling tournament,  the tournament was adjusted from a 2 day event with over 28 teams to an event that was now split into two individual tournaments held on Friday and Saturday.

The Jays competed Saturday alongside 14 other teams from across the state accompanying all three Division levels. Placing for the Jays were Owen McDevitt #106 -6th, Hughstown Lockner #120 – 3rd, & Austin Stanke #126 – 7th. Owen McDevitt improved his record to 13-5, Hughston Lockner to 15-3, & Austin Stanke to 12-5.

The Jays wrestling team competed  at the EOWL wrestling tournament. The tournament consists of 26 teams spread across Northeast Ohio representing all three Divisions.

Hughston Lockner (#120), Austin Stanke (#126), and Gavin White (#195) all went 2-1. Lockner & Stanke both earned their way into the Quarter Finals before falling to ranked opponents.

Senior Austin Stanke was the only one of the three who went on to win his next two matches to find himself in the 5th/6th place matchup on Saturday evening. Stanke finished with an impressive 7-5 decision.

The wrestling team traveled to Waterloo High School to take on the Vikings and the Western Reserve Blue Devils in a tri-match. The Jays came out on top in both duals, defeating Waterloo by a score of 39-18 & Western Reserve 36-30.
