Wrestling Jays prepare for the 2019-20 season
December 5, 2019
As a new year starts to unfold so does the beginning of the wrestling season. Jackson-Milton has always had a great wrestling program under head coach Brian Weidenthal. He has been the Jays wrestling coach for a few years now and is a very respected coach in the area.
Only two seniors will be returning this year, Hunter Nitzsky and Ryan Staton.
Senior Ryan Staton was asked what he looked forward to most about his senior campaign, in which he replied, “I’m mostly looking forward to just making it a good year as a team and an individual. Not being able to finish the season last year makes me really hungry for a successful one this year, and I feel like we have all the tools to do that.”
The Jays do have some very young prospects coming up as well. Freshmen Owen McDevitt made it to State in his final year of middle school and looks to keep it rolling into his first year of high school.
The first match will be on Friday December 13th at the riverside rumble.
Coach Weidenthal was asked what he looked forward to most about the first match and the season, with a serious face, responded with one word, “Winning.”
Good luck to the Wrestling Jays this season!
