Renewal Levy approved for Jackson-Milton
November 22, 2019
Renewal levy passes in Jackson-Milton on the November 5, 2019 ballot. The levy is for a five year period and brings in $383,088 each year. The renewal levy is for 1.7 mils and is used for day-to-day operational expenses of running the school. As a renewal, this levy does not increase taxes.
John Zinger stated, “By the passage of this levy, it helps control deficit spending on the five year forecast.”
The levy passed by a substantial amount, the polls in final were 56% for the levy and 43% against. As one can see the levy has been approved and will be in place for the next five years.
Moreover, the levy impacts students but many are not informed on the effects of it.
Student Kalliope Ivari says, “ I didn’t know a lot about it, but then I asked around and saw how many people were voting and realized the impact it’s had on our school.”
The Jackson-Milton Local School District would like to extend their gratitude to the community for its support.
