On Friday September 20th there was a pep rally for grades 6-12. It was for the Blue Jays high school football team as they went on to play their rivalry, Western Reserve. The cheerleaders led the school through the chants and the band serenaded all of the students.

The Seniors won the battle cry battle against the school. Senior Anthony Eppendorfer was asked what he liked most about the pep rallies, in which he replied, “I always look forward to going to them because it is a good way to get the whole school involved and show school spirit.”

All of the students stand up and are led through cheers and a battle cry. The battle cry is a cheer where whichever grade level can say it the loudest, they win the competition. The battle cry goes “V-I-C-T-O-R-Y THAT’S OUR BLUEJAY BATTLE CRY!”

Freshmen Gavin White was asked what he thought about the competition, he said, “It was my first pep rally as a high schooler and I honestly thought we would win the the battle cry… then I heard the upper class men. Hopefully next time everyone will be a little louder.”

The rally finished with everyone singing the alma mater and the seniors exiting the gym first.
