When it comes to the winter season typically there is copious amounts of snow on the ground. Which means that the roads will need to be plowed or salted in order to provide the safest route to school and work for people. Some schools in Ohio particularly have taken to painting the plows for fun, love of art, or competition. The schools that participate in the competition  have to paint their plow by the deadline and submit it.

Jackson-Milton has been participating the ODOT Paint a Plow project for the last three years. Each year the students chose a public issue to display on a snow plow. This years JMHS’s plow theme was about online bullying.

The plow states, “Don’t be mean behind the screen.”

Every year there is a chance to win the most creative plow throughout Mahoning County. Ms. Amendolara, Jackson-Milton’s high school middle school art teacher has, all of her high school classes participate on painting the plow.

She states, “It’s a fun and interesting project for everyone and everyone gets a chance to paint and help on it”

Community members, staff, and students were able to vote for their favorite plow on the ODOT Facebook page, JM received the 3rd highest number of votes.

Jackson-Milton placed 3rd in the competition, it took them a little longer to make it then expected to do it. It was an overall fun time for all involved the students were taken outside during art and were all given the option to participate or to not.

With the combination of the students they managed to make an amazing design for the plow. None of this however could’ve been possible without the art teacher Ms. Amendolara. She managed to inspire the students and help them show their inner potential and submit their talent.

Congratulations on a job well done.
