Cross Country 2018: Boys advance to Regionals making school history

Justin Popson

How do you feel about running for long periods of time? If you do then you might wanna look into cross country.

Cross country is an athletic event sport, in which you run long distances as fast as possible. While it is similar to running track, you do not have a set track and its more of a  dirt path.. Also, the teams are generally always coed.  The runs generally take place all throughout the fall sports season.

Jeremy Seka has been running since he was in 8th grade, he said, “It feels great to be in shape and to run as well as having friends on the team.”  If one was planning to participate, Seka stated they should have, “the willingness to accept pain for long periods of time and continue working through it.”

If you want discipline and strength and running then cross country is for you.  All that you need to do is have a positive attitude and push yourself to the limit.

The Boys Cross Country Team advanced to Regionals for the first time in school history.   The boys varsity high school team advanced to the Regional meet in Boardman which has never been done, and the middle school girls JV team made it to state in Columbus.

Senior Runner, Anthony Pizzuto, was asked how he felt about making it to regionals, in which he replied, “I’m excited to go and compete, our team deserves this for all the hard work we did back on those hot summer days and all the practice we did. He then added, “This is my senior year and I would love to see us make a run to state.”

The boys ranked 11th at this meet and finished their season, Jackson-Milton is very proud of all that they accomplished this season.
