Track and Field Post season

The Jackson-Milton track team has finally completed the regular season and is now competing in the postseason. On May 16th and May 18th the track team will be competing in the OHSAA District track meet that is held at Springfield Local High School. The girls track team did a tremendous job on day one of the meet sitting at 12th place. The 4×8 relay team of Addie DeVite, Jordan Fitzpatrick, Ashley Cameron, and Alyssa Deak finish 8th in the finals.
A few Lady Jays qualified for finals and the top 4 in finals for each race will advance to the Regional track meet at Massillon Perry High School on May 23rd and May 24th. Michaelina Terranova qualified for Regionals in two individual events, 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. Emily Williams qualified for Regionals in one individual event, long jump. The 4×100 relay team of Haley Lengyel, Bailey Estes, Emily Williams, and Michaelina Terranova placed third in finals and qualified for Regionals. Also, the 4×200 relay team of Haley Lengyel, Rena Costello, Emily Williams, and Michaelina Terranova placed fourth in finals and qualified for Regionals.
The boys track team perfored as well in the district meet. The boys 4×800 relay team of Michael Zayas, Michael Liberato, Anthony Terranova, and Nick McGinnis placed 7th in the finals. Other Blue Jays that made finals at the district meet included Taylor Kleinknecht, Ryan Staton, Anthony Terranova, and Michael Zayas.
On day one of Regionals, the girls 4×200 relay run came to an end, they placed 15th. The 4×100 relay made it to finals as well as Michaelina Terranova in her two individual events.
On day two of Regionals, Emily Williams placed 6th in long jump, Michaelina Terranova placed 5th in the 100 meter hurdles and the 4×100 relay team placed 6th and also broke the school record again!
The new school record for the girls 4×100 relay team is now 51.41 seconds. Michaelina Terranova placed 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles and has qualified for the 2018 OHSAA State Championships. The State Championships will be held at the Jesse Owens Memorial stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Prelims will be held on Friday, June 1st and if she qualifies for finals, finals will be on Saturday June 2nd.
