School Play: “The Butler Did It”
May 30, 2018
Jackson-Milton High School puts on a school play every year. This year they are performing a play called “The Butler Did It.” Mrs. Yantes is in charge of the play and what play they do. The students that partake in the play have been working hard to memorize parts and work hard to build the set, and plan how the different scenes will look. It takes multiply people to help with building the sets, putting up walls, painting, and putting it all together.
One of the seniors, Leona Stout said, “I’ve done the play for 4 years. This year were doing “The Butler Did It.” It’s a murder mystery and I play Edwina Cory, a writer. Being in the play is a really fun experience, but it requires a good attitude persistence. We’re responsible for memorizing our lines and helping with set. Ultimately, we’re a family though coming together to perform.”
Each student in the play has a different job and it takes everyone to put on the play. There are also students who help with behind the scenes doing curtains, changing the propes in between sets, putting together costumes, and makeup.
The first performance is on May 10th during school for just the students and it is 2 dollars per student. The cost of the play for students on this day will help cover all royalties. The play will then be performed on May the 11th and 12th. These two performances will be open to the public. Student ticket price is $4, adults $5, and senior citizens $4.
