The annual Physics Olympics took place recently at Youngstown State University. According to Dylan Straley, a member of the Jackson-Milton team, “The Physics Olympics are a competition held at YSU every year with ten or so events consisting of different physics principles.” The Jackson-Milton team competed in 5 events, and they placed as follows:

Joshua Spalding and Addrianna DeVite: 1st place Physics Phloater.

Joshua Spalding, Nicholas Kawecki, Dylan Straley: 1st place Ping-Pong Launcher.

Josh Spalding: 3rd in Balsa Wood Bridge.

Maddelyn Hyland, Nicholas Kawecki, Dylan Straley: 2nd Quiz Bowl, (losing only to an AP Physics Class from Hickory High School with 30 students)

Addrianna DeVite, Dylan Straley: 4th in Flying Machine.
