Girls Basketball: Michaelina Terranova scores 1000th point
November 28, 2017
Michaelina Terranova started off her senior year of basketball reaching her 1,000 career points. Scoring 1,000 points is very impressive especially for achieving such a big goal so early in the season or even the first game of the season to be exact. Michaelina was only 21 points away from making her accomplishment in her first game away against opponent Lordstown on November 27, 2017.
Michaelina is the third girl this year to accomplish the goal following both Ashley Totani and Kaitlyn Totani. Michaelina scored her 1,000 career basket in the fourth quarter after she got a difficult steal and layed in it down the floor! Her team gave her many opportunities to score her points including three pointers, jump shots and transitional layups. She ended the game that night with 23 points and the Lady Jays went home on the road with a win.
To celebrate Michaelina’s accomplishment, she received a banner, the game ball, and her name was placed on the 1,000 point club board in the gymnasium. She also received a special commemorative t-shirt as well.
When asking Michaelina after the game the question, “How did you feel after reaching your goal?” she replied with, “I was beyond excited and I am relieved I accomplished this now to get it out of the way. I could not have done this without any of my teammates and coaches help.”
