Holiday Traditions or Making Changes?

As a kid you probably wanted the latest toy that all your friends had, now maybe you want the new video games that come out or even just money. The holidays have changed a lot over the years as everyone grows up.

For example, Student Abby Spalding says, “As a kid I wanted toys and now a days I want new clothes.”

As kids, we left out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Now most of us just go to bed hoping we got what we asked for. Some things are still the same though, people still make Christmas cookies and listen to all the holiday music we all know and love.

One tradition that has changed throughout the years is Christmas lights. People that hang up and decorate for the exciting season, have declined. Many people still decorate but you don’t really see that many houses decorated anymore. One thing has always been the same is the people’s attitude towards the weather. Most people still would rather it be 70 and sunny then 30 and snowing.

Student Anthony Eppendorfer says, “When I was a kid we used to make gingerbread houses and now we just watch movies on Christmas eve.”

Christmas for many of us was always better when we were real young, but it is still celebrated in many traditional and new ways.
