Anti-bullying activities at JM

At Jackson-Milton we promote the non-bullying campaign each year.  This is being taught at many schools, trying to spread the word that bullying needs to be stopped.  This was taught by many of the Language Arts teachers at JM.  Students made positive posters in Mrs. Morelli’s room, posters and chains in Miss Bauman’s room, and wrote poetry in Mrs. Yantes’ class.  Officer Sosnosky, the school’s resource officer, volunteered to help with this.

Officer Sosnosky said, “This was something that was brought to my attention by Sheriff Jerry Greene and I jump at the opportunity to help our youth.”

When asked why he teaches the students about this subject, he replied, “When children are part of activities that help others less fortunate than themselves, it provides them with a real sense of perspective. which enables them to help others. And knowing that I can make an impact like that is why I do it.”

Most school do participate in teaching the “Ohio Anti-bullying Program.”

Officer Sosnosky found videos that told the stories of people that got bullied in the past and it impacted students in a unique way. For instance, sophomore Anthony Eppendorfor said, “ The videos Officer Sosnosky showed were eye opening.”
