Blue Jay Baseball 2017 is a hit! Jays become ITCL Blue Tier Back to Back Champs!

The Jackson-Milton Blue Jays are coming off a great season from last year they are defending the league title as they had won it in 2016.
The 2017 was starting off very weak after losing some key players but many have stepped up. This was a great season for the Blue Jays as they have an amazing pitching staff, starting off with their ace pitcher Eric Ostrowski. The Blue Jays are currently 14-3 on the 2017 season with a 8-0 league record. The Blue Jays are ranked 7th in the state in Division 4.
Their opening game was against the Wellsville Tigers, who they defeated by a score of 13-2 in 5 innings. Game 2 was against the Columbiana Clippers, the Blue Jays were defeated 2-1 in a pitching battle.
The Blue Jays swept a 2 game series against the Lowellville Rockets. Game one of the series Noah Laster hit a 2 run homer to put the Blue Jays on top. In game 2 Jonathan Voland hit a triple, Sebastian Lay threw a one hitter and freshman Joey Williams continued to do great things for the Blue Jays.
After the Blue Jays swept the Rockets, they would head to Springfield to play the Tigers where they found their 3rd victory with a score of 7-0. After Springfield, the Blue Jays will found a couple of days off due to weather conditions. Their next game was against Bedford, who would give them a run for their money but the Blue Jays came up with a victory of 9-6.
Their next game was a 2 game series with the McDonald Blue Devils, the Blue Jays are currently up 1-0 in the series with a final of 4-1 in game 1 the Blue Jays were tied up 1-1 until Noah Laster would send one over the scoreboard giving him his 2nd home run on the season and putting the Jays up 4-1.
The team was in first place in the ITCL Blue Tier with a 6-0 record. This includes a big win against D2 Niles which is only their second lost of the season. They boys JV team has played well in their two games and had the chance to play another game.
The Varsity Baseball team has clinched the ITCL Blue Tier Championship for the 2017 season. This makes the team back to back champions in the league the first time this has been done since 1990 and 1991. The team is currently ranked #7 in the state in the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches State Poll and #9 in the Prep Baseball Report. The JV season is done for the year and the boys played a few games and improved each time. The team will now start getting ready for the OHSAA State Playoffs that kick off this week.
