JMHS Cupcake War was a SWEET contest!

Travis Tikkanen, Staff Writer

This year the Mrs. Barnes held the second annual Cupcake Wars for her Healthy & Safe Foods class. This was a fun competition between the cooking groups, and they made really good cupcakes. The groups worked on researching ingredients, designing what they believed the final outcome would be, and a paragraph description about the flavors, textures, and reasoning for the groups choice.

The group’s final choices were: Kitchen 5 made white with cream cheese and buttercream frosting topped with fruit. Kitchen 1 made Chocolate with whipped frosting and cookies, making them look like cookie monster. Kitchen 3 made Red velvet with cream cheese and strawberries. Lastly Kitchen 4  made pink velvet and cream cheese frosting.

The Results were:

Winners: Kitchen 5 – Maggie Garland, Jenna Seka, and Marcus Wyant

2nd Place: Kitchen 3 – Katie Matasy, Austin Christopher, Tanner Ballsinger, and Jeffrey Luther

3rd Place: Kitchen 4 – Dalton Lockner, Shane Davis, and Nick Rich

4th Place: Kitchen 1 – Zach Socha, Taylor Kleinknecht, and Jacob Rossi
The groups had a lot of fun with this small competition and all of the cupcakes were very good! The school can not wait for the 3rd annual next year.
