Lady Jays Basketball Season 2016-17

The Girls Basketball Team has a total of 18 girls. Seniors are Katie Rago, Ashley Totani and Kaitlyn Totani. Juniors are Taylor Hayes, Emily Williams, Jordan Fitzpatrick, Haley Lengel, and Michaelina Terranova. The Sophomore is Ashley Cameron. The Freshman are Grace McDevitt, Julia Bogden, Megan Fultz, Spencer Christopher, Kaylie Carson, Bailey Estes, Courtney Mercer, Abigail Spalding, and Alyssa Deak.

The Lady Jays first game was against Crestview and the ending score was 53-43.  

The Lady Jays then played Lordstown and defeated them 59-43. Ashley Totani led the Bluejays with 21 points while Michaelina added 20 more.  

On December 5, 2016 the Lady Jays played East Palestine and won 48-24.

On December 8th The Lady Jays defeated Western Reserve Blue Devils with a score of 47-33.

The Lady Jays played Struthers with the score of 50-42. Ashley and Kaitlyn Totani combined for 35 points and Michaelina Terranova added 11 Points on top of that.

The girls then defeated Leetonia Bears with a score of 42-34.

Then they played United and added another win with the score of 46-28.

The Lady Jays played a very hard and close game against South Range with their first loss 36-34.

The Lady Jays had another difficult loss against Lisbon with the score of 49-44 but the girls are working harder and harder everyday.

The girls then beat McDonald with a score of 42-23.

The girls fought long and hard against Colombiana with the final score of 51-47.

Sebring falls to Jackson-Milton with a final score of 93-19. In the first quarter alone the Bluejays scored 31 points. Ashley Totani scored a total of 34 points and Kaitlyn Totani tallied a total of 23 points. Michaelina Terranova added another 12 points.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Totani who scored her 1,00th point of her career!

Mineral Ridge could not keep up with our girls, the ending score was 55-22.

The Lady Jays big win over Western Reserve Lady Devils with a score of 72-22. Senior Ashley Totani scored a game-high 24 points followed by Michaelina Terranova with 16 points and Emily Williams with 12 points. By the end of the first half the Blue Jays scored 48 points and kept it going after that.

The girls came into this week ranked 10th in the latest Division IV AP State Poll.

The girls started out a little sluggish, but pulled through at the Lowellville game with the final score of 64-25 win.

The Lady Jays now stand at 14-3 on their season and 7-0 in the ITCL’s Blue Tier. Ashley Totani said, “ We didn’t come out strong like we did in our last game, but I think we understood that we didn’t, and kind of started picking up the pace because we could see it on the scoreboard. We weren’t playing to the best of our abilities.” Ashley Totani led the Blue Jays with 21 points. Michaelina Terranova followed with 16 points. Kaitlyn Totani assisted with the score with 8 points and Emily Williams with 7.

The Jays defeated McDonald with the final score of 48-27.

Congratulations to Ashley Totani on scoring her 1,000th point in her career!

The girls defeated Sebring with the final score of 79-34 clinching the ITCL Blue Championship.

The girls then defeated Mineral Ridge with the final score of 57-25.

The Springfield Tigers fell to Jackson-Milton girls by a score of 71-29.

The girls beat Mogadore at their Senior Day with a score of 58-32.

The girls wrapped up their regular season with a record of 19-3. They also won the ITCL-Blue Tier for the second year in a row.

The girls will open the OHSAA State Girls Basketball Tournament at Jackson-Milton on February 25th at 1.

The girls also have been given votes in the Ohio Associated Press Girls State Basketball Poll for division 4 and are currently rated 16th in that state poll just released.
