On January 20, 2016, NASA Scientists discovered what appeared to be a new ninth planet. Although the discovery is not for sure, because the planet has not been examined, scientists believe the planet is about the size of Neptune and orbits the sun every 15,000 years.

Eric Hand wrote an article about the new planet and stated, “They [scientists] believe that the giant planet was knocked out of the planet forming region near the sun. Slowed down by gas, the planet settled into a distant elliptical orbit, where it still lurks today” (Hand).

Other scientists believe that is this is indeed a new planet discovery; there could be many other planets to discover beyond the known planet. For now, the planet is known as Planet X.
