At the 2024 homecoming parade students, educators, friends, and family came together to celebrate the new school year on the new Jackson-Milton football field. Each class got to choose two people, one girl and one boy, to represent their class in the annual homecoming parade. The freshman chose Maverick McFarland and Charlie Estes, sophomores elected Troy Sudimak and Abby Hochendoner, and the junior class selected Brock Piatt and Tiffany Tingler.
The senior class chose five girls and five boys to make up their court, in which the seniors got to pick from to choose their homecoming queen and king. These students were Vincent Fay, Keegan White, Jase Greco, Jayden Scott, Landon Workman, Caty Carnes, Hailey Chudomelka, Grace Johns Sophia Huzyak, and Addison Wilkes. On September 27, 2024 these representatives were joined by the cheerleading squad and individual class floats in a parade celebrating the new school year. The students rode on golf carts as the band marched them through the parade and around the school.
During the actual homecoming ceremony judges announced that the junior classes ‘hippie van” won the float building contest and the class representatives and senior court were escorted by their loved ones across the field for pictures. Grace Johns and Keegan White were crowned homecoming queen and king and the Jackson-Milton Blue Jays lost a hard fought battle to the Springfield Tigers 40-9. Although, this did not affect community morale, as students were still buzzing with excitement for the homecoming dance the following Saturday. Overall the parade was a major success and an excellent way to kick off the school year.
Homecoming Advisor Mrs. Schneemann stated, “This year was a trail run parade, being on the new field and working with a new route. I am excited for the years ahead where we can make the parade longer and get the community involved again.”
Homecoming Advisor Mrs. Schneemann also stated, “The parade will only keep getting better from here on out.”
Homecoming King Keegan White said he’s the kind of guy who; “walked these halls with Grace and style”.
Homecoming Queen Grace Johns said, “One Crown, Countless Memories.”
