The Jackson-Milton golf team has been crushing it for the past few weeks. Along with a district-qualifier and some hard working golf players, this team has brought the heat and has improved a great amount during this season.

Senior Kent Gross has made huge improvements for himself the entire season. He ends the season being a district qualifier for the Blue Jays.

“It’s a big honor for sure,” says Kent. “I never would have thought that I would make it this far in the season, so it’s a pretty big accomplishment.”

After qualifying last week at the D3 boys sectional tournament,  Senior, Kent Gross competed at the OHSAA district golf tournament, held at Tannahalf Golf Course.  After completing his 18-hole round, Kent finished with a score of 84 giving himself an opportunity to potentially qualify for the state tournament. After all of the golfers completed their rounds, Kent finished in 6th place individually, just missing the cut for state by 2 stokes. This is a tremendous accomplishment in having to compete against 60 of the best D3 golfers in Northeast Ohio.  Kent had a great season continuing to work hard, improve his golf game, and striving to reach his goals

Kent wasn’t the only one taking large steps, senior Kaylie Carson came up very close to being one of the qualifiers for the district tournament held at Pine Lakes, she finished tenth, just missing the cut, but she never gave up, never wavered and finished strong.

“It stinks being the only girl who golfs,” laughs Carson. “I’m still very proud of myself having all that pressure on me but still keeping my form, composure and finishing with everything I have.”

So what is the team’s goal for next year? “To keep improving,” says coach Daniel Crish, “If we all put in the work, we could have some qualifiers for districts again next year, I just know it.”
